The Denim Icon's : How I dressed denim in 5 different ways!

Hello!
So if anyone follows me on Instagram you would know that a couple of weeks ago I took a special trip to McArthurGlen Designer outlet in Cheshire Oaks! The company wanted me to work on their seasonal campaign called 'Denim The Icons'. It's literally just a time to flaunt your denim, especially when the weather is getting cooler and denim is massively used in our autumnal wardrobe. I had the challenge to pick 2 denim items of my choice, and style them up in 5 different ways. Cheshire Oaks has a massive selection of stores that specialise in denim such as Superdry, Diesel, and G Star Raw but in the end I bought both my items from the one and only Levis! I picked a pair of boyfriend fitted jeans and a kimono style denim jacket. I knew the jacket would be harder to style, but I was up for the challenge. I didn't want to buy 2 pairs of jeans, or just a denim shirt. I'm a huge jacket lover so I looked forward to styling it! Here are my looks below!

Shoes // Miss Selfridge
Bag // River Island
Culottess // Topshop
Jumper// Missguided

I thought this was casual but stylish. This jacket especially looks lush with the roll neck jumper and sits lovely with the high waisted culottes! I also think the cream sleeves contrasts well with the denim and it gives a simple layering touch. The bag helps to keep this outfit looking casual and adds a splash of  furry colour.
Skirt // Warehouse at Asos
Bag // Riverisland
Shoes // River Island
Fur Stole // Primark

The jacket is transformed with the fur stole and it's look totally different! I love this girly look, and it looks lush with the skater skirt. I was scared when I bought the jacket that this would be hard to dress feminine because it's vintage and oversized. But I would happily wear this look again! The bag and the shoes help to brighten up the look also.
Coat // River Island at Asos
Knit Jumper // Mango (see similar and cheaper here
Bag // Michael Kors (Outlet from Cheshire Oaks)
Boots // La Moda
Necklace // River Island

These Jeans are in actual fact cropped, but you wouldn't know in this photo because of the knee length boots! Thats what so great about wearing cropped jeans you can still wear them in the winter as long as you have the right pair of boots! The colours on the jacket go gorgeous with the classic denim and I think this outfit proves how stylish and versatile jeans are, even if they are vintage!

Top // Boohoo
Gilet // River Island (see similar
Shoes // Newlook
Bag // Michael Kors (From Cheshire Oaks)

This outfit is perfect for a mild day in London hitting the shops! It's casual with the boyfriend style jeans, yet they have been worn in a classy way with the designer bag and the fur gilet. I have always been a fan of wearing heels with boyfriend jeans, and I think the two together look especially nice with the rest of the clothes!

Coat // Asos
Top // Boohoo
Boots// Boohoo
Bag // Zara

This outfit is gorgeous! It's cosy but glamorous! The jeans go lovely with all the dark colours and I would happily wear this look to something like Winter Wonderland coming up (if you haven't been to Winter Wonderland yet, you MUST GO) The outfit is comfy for ice skating, and will also keep me very warm. I think you could also get away with this look whilst doing your Christmas shopping, or for a casual meal out!

Okay so overall I think I'm happy with all my looks. This literally took a whole afternoon to plan and photograph all of these (with thanks to Mum the photographer ha!). I massively enjoyed the challenge though. I was getting stressed with the kimono jacket, purely because the sleeves made some of my planned outfits look unflattering? I attempted to layer the jacket with a fur gilet on top and that was literally a massive fail! But it's one of those items where if you find the right clothes to go with it, then it looks especially lovely and unique at the same time! As you can see it's perfectly capable to dress the jacket to make it look girly or more boyish style.
I kind of wished I layered my outfits more with the jeans? Like tying a shirt around the waist, or adding a belt perhaps? I didn't have a belt wide enough for the loops so I felt more comfortable just covering up the waistband since they were a tad loose on the waist. I'm happy that I did wear the jeans with knee length boots, just because I think people do forget that they can be worn with this style of footwear! If it was me, I would automatically have put all my cropped summer jeans back in their storage boxes for winter, but if you like the colour of the denim, then why not!? Who is going to know eh? ^^
I hope I passed the challenge! Even though I don't get graded ha! I just hope all you lot like these outfits. It makes you realise how we can sometimes take our denim for granted. They really are literally one of the most important items in our wardrobes for helping make an outfit look stylish and individual!
Massive thank you to Hayley and Jennifer from McArthurGlen who made this experience happen! It was a lovely day out for me and my boyfriend and would love to go back to Cheshire Oaks in the near future! Especially since there is an Ed's Diner there!

  1. I absolutely love Cheshire Oaks, it's only a 20 minute drive from where I live and it's so tempting to go and splurge every weekend :) I love the outfits, I think my favourite has to be the second one though, I love the way you paired the jacket with the stole, it's something I'd have never thought to have done but that looks so chic! xo
